The Major Arcana is a single story: the journey of The Fool from the first step to the last. Each card is a stage. Together, they describe what it means to grow up, wake up, and become whole.

Act I: Innocence (0–7)

The Fool sets out. The Magician teaches that everything The Fool needs is already at hand. The High Priess reminds him to listen inward. The Empress shows him abundance. The Emperor gives him structure. The Hierophant hands him tradition. The Lovers ask him to choose. The Chariot sends him off with determination.

Act II: Challenge (8–14)

Strength teaches him that real power is quiet. The Hermit shows him the value of going alone. The Wheel reminds him that nothing stays the same. Justice insists on truth. The Hanged Man asks him to let go. Death says some things have to end. Temperance says the rest has to be balanced.

Act III: Descent and Return (15–21)

The Devil names the chains he’s chosen. The Tower breaks them. The Star lights the way after. The Moon warns him not to trust every shadow. The Sun reminds him what joy feels like. Judgement asks him to wake up. The World shows him the circle is complete — and that the next circle is already beginning.

Why it matters in a daily reading

A Major Arcana card carries the weight of the whole arc. When you draw The Fool today, it’s a beginning; when you draw The World, it’s a completion. The Major Arcana is the part of the deck that points to big truths. The Minor Arcana is what fills in the details.
